The Dangers of MySpace

Welcome

This site is dedicated to those who are wondering and want to know about the dangers of MySpace and posting personal information online. It was inspired by Dateline on NBC and their multiple part series, To Catch a Predator that aired in April-May 2006. If you find this site useful, I encourage you to pass it on to others and help spread the word.

It is my hope that weekly I can provide information on how to be safe on MySpace, what parents can do to ensure their children are safe on MySpace, and what can be done to MySpace in order to make it a safer community.

We are in no way affiliated, associated, endorsed, or in any way connected to MySpace, its partners, or its subsidiaries.

  1. “In recent news, General Attorney for the State of Massachusetts wants the minimum age to create an account on MySpace changed. Tom Reilly claims that the age should be changed from the current 14 years old to 18 years old.”
This is funny because the age of consent is all but 12 States is 16 or less. Since my grandaughter was kidnapped several days after turning 16, I’ve tried to get lawmakers to change the age of consent to 18. This way it would be easier to prosecute. But they (preditors) know this and go after girls as soon as they turn 16. No law will have any affect on myspace unless prosecuters can convict. Maybe we can’t get the age of consent changed because too many of our lawmakers are fooling around with underage minors.

  2. I think that this document is right about the change in the age. I mean think abut it? Can your loved ones be safe on a site where your personal information is on piblic display? Can you really say that it will never happen to you? Can you think that giving out how or what you look like can think that, that person is miles away? No, that person could be a block away or right next door.

All that I’m saying it that you sould think about what your getting yourself into and can you take blame for the consequences.
