I couldn’t find this more amusing knowing my hatred for MySpace, the popular (although God knows why) social networking site among teens and radio DJ’s, it seems.
My account was deleted last night for some reason, as was some other accounts. Why you might ask? No reason from MySpace and no warning whatsoever. Am I upset? Not a bit when I had a paid hosting account that doesn’t rely on MySpace’s shoddy network that often fails. What’s more amusing is that the site randomly deletes users on a regular basis for no apparent reason most of the time.
As an example, take a look at a few threads on the internet about people having their MySpace accounts deleted.

The one thing I find amusing is in the last link that they can ban you and delete your account for your horrible HTML skills as well as their crappy web design team, dare I even call them web designers since their site defies ALL RULES OF USABILITY AND APPROPRIATE WEB DESIGN STANDARDS. As noted, “covering our banner ads with HTML” can get you banned. Keep in mind this is the same company that last week had an advertisement on their site hijacked and server 1 million people or so with malware on their Windows computers.
And people really wonder why I don’t use MySpace…I’ve got a million reasons, including a site devoted to why it’s dangerous for younger children.
Edit: Well, what do you know. They put up the wrong error message apparently or the account really was deleted and was recovered from a backup server (not that 95% of people with a MySpace account can’t recreate their eye-sore of a site in 5 minutes using some predefined template). I’m willing to bet MySpace won’t make any announcement about what happened. That’d be typical of a company that’s just in it for the money and doesn’t care about its users. They likely also won’t tell you that their site was compromised last night, or so it seems.
yesterday my account was deleted for no apparent reason….u know i just figured out that myspace is a cheap website. its suppose to have great technology for your account. so it doesnt delete by its self.
ditto.. first myspace bought out and took down meebo where i shared most my music, then they wiped my myspace band account for an unknown mysterious tos violation.. i hadn’t even logged into it for atleast a year and inactivity isn’t in the tos, so go figure.
Admins right though, the key is redundancy- for us myspace has moved down to the last stop on the net promotion ride; skip the grief and don’t even mess with it unless you enjoy mindless non-sense.
Music wise soundcloud and reverbnation are happening sites right about now.
Maybe myspace will play the “opps, sorry wrong error message” card again.. but really does it matter?
The signal to noise ratio is so bad now that it’s near impossible to make it thru the piles of spam and fake accounts~
and to make the experience even “better” they randomly delete actual users and bands.
my myspace account was deleted for no reason. im pretty pissed off at myspace. well. fuck it all, facebook is better, nobody ever talked to me on myspace.
MySpace no longer can be trusted at all. They don’t care about you. They have let 3rd party come in and Del your account or when a hacker mess up your account and its get deleted. You are out of luck. All they can say is sorry, you can make another one. Your just out of luck regard less of how many $100.00 you have put into it or how many years you had the account. That why it’s going down. It’s just trash anymore for the hacker. SO BE WARNED DON’T SPEND ANY MONEY ON A MYSPACE ACCOUNT, THEY ARE BEING DELETED VERY FAST NOW DAYS. AND THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT.
